Thursday 15th September 2011

A man believed to be Dion Kendrick Lee, a subject of the joint SOCA/Crimestoppers Operation Return, has been arrested in Lagos, Nigeria.

The arrest by the  Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Tuesday 13th September followed close cooperation between UK and  Nigerian Authorities.

Lee, from Preston, was wanted by Lancashire Police and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) in connection with drugs and firearms crimes, as well as allegedly conspiring to supply Class A and C Drugs and conspiracy to possess, sell or transfer firearms and ammunition.

The 34-year-old becomes the fourth individual to be located since last year’s launch of Operation Return, a campaign run by SOCA, Crimestoppers UK, Meld Misdaad Anoniem/’M’ (Dutch Crimestoppers) and  Dutch law enforcement. It aims to identify fugitives wanted for serious crimes committed in the UK, but who are now thought to be in and around the city of Amsterdam.

Operation Return includes some of the UK’s most dangerous criminals wanted for suspected crimes relating to drugs smuggling, the illegal sale of firearms, robbery and rape.
