A huge haul of ammunition and an Uzi submachine gun were recovered yesterday in Bradford as part of a Serious Organised Crime Agency operation.
Officers arrested a 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman at a house in Hudson Crescent. They were interviewed at a local police station and have now been released on bail.
Around 1,400 rounds of ammunition were recovered for various firearms including an Uzi submachine gun, an AK-47 assault rifle and a Magnum handgun. A kilo and a half of white powder was also found and this is being forensically examined.
Steve Baldwin from SOCA said: “Criminals involved in this type of illegal activity knowingly jeopardise the safety of the public. SOCA works closely with its partners to stop organised crime groups trafficking and distributing firearms. These arrests demonstrate how effective partnerships can be in taking firearms and ammunition out of criminal hands.”
The operation was supported by West Yorkshire Police and the National Ballistics Intelligence Service.
