Jamie Dempsey, suspected of 299kg cocaine plot, arrested in Spain

18 May 2011

A man wanted by SOCA in connection with a conspiracy to supply cocaine has been arrested in Southern Spain by the Spanish Policia National and the Guardia Civil.

Jamie Dempsey, born 13/05/1978 in Essex, was arrested on Tuesday 17th May in Benahavis, Marbella, Spain. It is alleged that between 30 March 2009 and 23 April 2009, Dempsey conspired with others to supply 299kgs of cocaine, with an estimated UK street value in excess of £80million.

Dempsey's arrest is the fifth from the latest batch of ten wanted individuals revealed in Alicante in February this year under Operation Captura; a multi agency campaign to locate wanted individuals that are wanted on a European Arrest Warrant issued by the UK and are believed to be living in Spain to try and evade capture.
