A former Royal Marine suspected of being involved in a plot to import more than 20 tonnes of class A and B drugs into the UK has been extradited back to England.
Glen David Cornick, 38, from Dorset was arrested by the Guardia Civil San Sebastian on 29th July 2010 under a European Arrest Warrant.
Cornick is believed to be part of a criminal network who used a number of ‘paper’ companies as a front for their activity and employed business service centres across the UK to unwittingly receive packages of cocaine and cannabis on their behalf.
Over an 18 month period, SOCA in partnership with police in Spain and England seized over 50 kilos of cocaine and four tonnes of cannabis.
As part of the investigation 10 people were arrested by SOCA earlier this year and they are expected to stand trial in October 2010 in Liverpool Crown Court.
Cornick appeared before Uxbridge Magistrates Court today (12 August) where he was remanded in custody to reappear before Liverpool Crown Court on 26 August.
