Unprecedented insider dealing investigation brings seven arrests

24 March 2010

In a joint investigation with the Financial Services Authority (FSA), officers from the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) have arrested seven people suspected of involvement in a sophisticated insider dealing ring.

Early morning raids on sixteen business and residential addresses in London, the South East and Oxfordshire resulted in six arrests and the seizure of computers and documents on Tuesday 23rd March 2010. This action was followed by a further arrest in London on Wednesday 24th.

Two senior figures at leading City institutions and a hedge fund professional were among those arrested.

The investigation is the first to be jointly undertaken by the FSA and SOCA.

Working in partnership with law enforcement, the private sector and regulatory partners is central to SOCA’s operating model.
