Curtis Warren convicted

7 October 2009

Curtis Warren

Notorious criminal Curtis Warren is facing another lengthy jail term for drug dealing. His plan to import 180 kilos of cannabis into Jersey was uncovered after SOCA began gathering intelligence on Warren while he was serving a 10 year sentence in the Netherlands for cocaine trafficking. SOCA believed he was organising drug deals from behind bars and, on his release, a joint surveillance operation began with the States of Jersey Police. Just one month later Warren and five of his associates had been arrested before their cannabis plan could succeed.

Commenting on the case Bill Hughes, Director General of SOCA,  said: “Serious organised criminals don’t suddenly stop just because they’ve been caught once. That’s why when a criminal comes onto SOCA’s radar, they stay there for life. Curtis Warren was a career criminal for whom prison was a temporary setback. He was already planning his next operation from inside prison, and when he was released SOCA was waiting, watching, and listening. Together with our partners in the States of Jersey Police we’ve stopped Curtis Warren’s plans in their tracks. Criminals need to know that this is a different world now – lifetime management is a reality.”

Warren and his five associates will be sentenced on 4 December.
