The High Court in Belfast has granted SOCA an Interim Receiving Order (IRO) on a number of properties and bank accounts in South Armagh.
Eight houses in South Armagh, one apartment in South Belfast, the proceeds of sale from three further houses in South Armagh and a number of bank accounts held by Sean Gerard Hughes and his wife Annette Hughes were frozen by the Court.
In seeking the IRO, SOCA alleged that the properties had been derived from laundering the proceeds of mortgage fraud, tax evasion and benefit fraud. The Order was also granted against a number of family members and associates of Mr Hughes.
